When I first became head of the Japan operation of a multinational company, I was constantly looking for the “right answer.” I believed that, as the person responsible for the business, I had to make the right decisions and provide the answers. Looking back, I think that mindset left less room for others to think for themselves.
Later, while still leading a Japan operation, I began formal training in coaching and also had the opportunity to receive coaching myself. During a difficult period, my coach asked me, “What do you want to do?” As I sat with that question, thought it through, and made my own choice, the way I approached the situation changed.
Rather than being given an answer, I found my own through questions and dialogue. And I realized that, even after years of experience, I could still re-examine how I saw a situation.
The more senior a leader becomes, the fewer opportunities there may be to speak openly inside the organization about their own judgments, uncertainties, and concerns. This is true not only for leaders who are new to their roles, but also for experienced executives.
Dialogue with someone independent of the organization’s internal interests and dynamics—someone with whom a leader can think freely and question their own assumptions—can shape not only the leader’s own growth but also how they engage with the organization. Looking back on my years in business leadership, I feel this more strongly than ever. That conviction became the foundation of Leader Insight Partners.
In leadership, there is no single right answer that works in every situation. As the business or organization enters a new stage, the perspectives and behaviors that once contributed to success can sometimes narrow the choices available.
That is why I believe it is worth stepping back at times to re-examine our own perspectives and assumptions.
Through Leader Insight Partners, I offer a confidential space where leaders can step outside the immediate demands of their role and think freely. In that space, they can examine their perspectives and the impact of their actions on others. Rather than providing answers, I use questions and dialogue to help leaders see their situation differently and choose their own next move.
When insight changes behavior, relationships can change. Over time, those changes can open new possibilities for teams and organizations. That is the broader impact I keep in mind as I work alongside each leader.

Executive Coach (ACC)
Yasushi Michiuchi began his career at Andersen Consulting, now Accenture, where he spent more than ten years in consulting roles in Japan and Europe.
In 2003, he joined a medical device company that was later acquired by Abbott. At Abbott, he held roles across business operations, marketing, and strategy and business development, and ultimately served as General Manager of the Structural Heart business for Asia Pacific and Japan.
He subsequently served as President of Alere Japan; as Japan DBS Leader at Danaher, where he led the deployment of the Danaher Business System across group companies in Japan; and as General Manager of Leica Microsystems Japan. In total, he led the Japan operations of multinational companies for around 12 years.
Throughout his executive career, he worked at the intersection of global expectations and local business realities, while leading businesses, building leadership teams, and working through organizational and cultural change.
This experience gives him a firsthand understanding of the complexity and pressure that can come with leading a Japan business within a global organization.
In his final years leading a Japan operation, he began formal training in coaching and was also coached himself. Through both, he came to appreciate the value of questions and dialogue in helping leaders re-examine their own perspectives and see situations differently.
In September 2026, he founded Leader Insight Partners to provide Presidents, General Managers, Country Managers, business leaders, and senior executives with executive coaching grounded in the practical demands of business leadership.
